How We Ensure the Quality of SummitBoard

“Summit – Above Expectations”

More than just a catchy tagline, but a promise we don’t take lightly.

At Summit, we believe in quality above all else. Backed by The Swartland Group, a company that has been dedicated to quality products and services since 1951, SummitBoard offers the best-in-market performance and national after-sales service, which the building industry has come to expect from Swartland offerings.

With over 70 years under our belt, we’ve perfected our products to ensure quality every time. How? Read on…

1. Intense Quality Checks

Through stringent testing and quality checks, we ensure that our manufacturing process produces high and consistent quality SummitBoard. We continuously test our products to ensure that they are compliant with the National Building Regulations.

SummitBoard is fire resistant, with B/B1/2/H&V (SP & USP) certification

  • B = Combustible
  • B1 = No flame spread
  • 2 = Building occupancy class
  • H&V = Horizontal and vertical
  • SP = Sprinklers tested
  • USP = Sprinklers untested

This means that although it is combustible, SummitBoard poses no flame-spread hazard. In fact, when exposed to fire, it will shrink away from the heat source, creating no flaming droplets or flame-spread. Its efficacy is recognised by the Thermal Insulation Products & Systems Association (TIPSASA.)

2. State-Of-The-Art Design

The insulative qualities of various insulation materials often degrade over time – resulting in slowly rising utility bills. However, this is not the case with SummitBoard

Its 100% enclosed cell structure makes it really strong with zero moisture penetration, making the surfaces on which it is used effectively waterproof. This ensures an exceptionally long lifespan when compared to other traditional materials. Not only does this negate the issue of rising heating and cooling costs, but it also saves money as you won’t need to replace your insulation as often, and it lowers its cradle-to-grave carbon footprint, making it a wonderfully green building material.

SummitBoard is also available in a variety of high-quality finishes. It is 100% locally-made and manufactured in the Swartland factories.

3. Reliability

With over 70 years in business, Swartland has an annual turnover of around R1.2bn, more than 1,500 employees, and six manufacturing plants. This backing gives SummitBoard an enviable track-record in the sector. As part of Summit’s range of insulation and decorative ceiling products, the same world-class manufacturing processes are ensured on our SummitBoard.

Furthermore, our quality goes beyond our products. It’s infused into every facet of the business and can be seen in our relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees. We are all on a greater mission to deliver durable quality insulation to the homes of millions of South Africans.
