Guidelines to Help You Choose the Correct SummitBoard for Your Next Project
Summit XPS insulation board (or SummitBoard) is a bulk insulator which is installed to prevent the transfer of heat through conduction and convection. With all other factors being equal, temperatures will generally be more stable in better-insulated buildings. The following guidelines will help you select the best SummitBoard for your build:
Type
First you will need to select the type of SummitBoard you wish to install from the following four designs available:
- Smooth Tongue and Groove – Commercial / industrial application
- Pine Tongue and Groove – poluplar in residential, specifically between / over exposed trusses. Pine tongue and grove can also be used in retail environments
- Smooth Bevel Tongue and Groove – Residential applications, can also be used in commercial / industrial over purlin applications
- Smooth Straight – Underfloor / cavity application, on oour thickness of 80mm or 100mm, can even be used to wire cut cornices.
Thickness
You will also need to bear the thickness of your chosen SummitBoard in mind when selecting your insulation boards. The greater the thickness of the board, the more insulation it will provide. SummitBoard comes readily available in five standard thicknesses, including:
- 30mm
- 40mm
- 50mm
- 80mm
- 100mm
Other thicknesses can also be made to order according to your specific requirements.
Climate
It is also a good idea to keep the general climate in mind, depending on where your various sites are located. Different climatic regions require different insulation interventions to achieve similar levels of comfort (as well as legal compliance).
Note:
SummitBoard is a thermal insulation solution. It should not be used in isolation as a sound barrier for soundproofing purposes. Consult a noise reduction system specialist to discuss your options.
With the above guidelines in mind, you will be better equipped to select the correct SummitBoard for your next build for maximum results.
