Here’s a Simple Step by Step Guide to Installing Our Access Panels

Step 2: Create an Opening within the Plasterboard Wall or Ceiling
- Draw around the outer rim of the Summit Trap Door, allowing for an extra 5mm
- Cut opening using a saw
Step 3: Install the Frame in the Ceiling or Wall
- Ensure the frame is set square into the opening
- Fix the frame through the face of the plasterboard using approved screws (minimum two fixings per side and maximum 300mm centers)
- For a secure fix, provide additional structural framing that is fixed to the ceiling framework around the opening
Step 4: Re-Fit the Door into the Frame and Check Operation
- Re-fit the door into the frame
- Check the operation prior to finishing
Step 5: Remove the Door Again and Skim and Paint Around the Fitted Frame
- Remove the door again
- Skim and paint around the fitted frame
- Ensure all jointing material has been removed from the frame and door edge
The finished Summit XPS Access Panel is available in two sizes – 400 x 400mm and 600 x 600mm – and comes with a concealed snap lock that opens and closes with a gentle push. The panels feature a powder-coated galvanised-steel frame and door, making them both durable and long-lasting.
